Almost daily while growing up in Nigeria, I heard, read, and saw news reports about thousands of Christians in the North being raped, murdered, and kidnapped, their churches burned down, and their homes and schools destroyed by Boko Haram, a violent Islamic terrorist group. The children and babies of these families were rarely spared. Growing up in the South, where Christians were more prevalent, there was always an underlying fear that Boko Haram might push further south, with no border to stop them. It was just a matter of when.
As a 17-year-old college freshman in the US, I took a world religion class for general education, where my PhD in theology-wielding professor stated that the God of Judaism, Islam, and Christianity is the same and that Islam is the religion of peace. "Peace?! How can that be? How about Boko Haram and similar terrorist groups, whose members love chanting "Allahu Akbar" after going on a killing spree on Christians and other non-Muslims? What's peaceful about them? Everyone (including themselves) labels them as an Islamic group. How many more Christians in Nigeria, Africa, or the Middle East must perish at the hands of Islamic groups before folks stop hesitating to call a spade a spade? Or should we wait until these groups hit the US, the global Christian capital, on a grand scale?" I thought. Despite having all these thoughts, I brushed them off because I felt, "who was I to question him? He's the one with the PhD in theology anyways."
Many years later, here I am to prove that professor wrong (though he probably doesn’t even remember this, but I digress...), all while combining my love for reading and full-stack development. Do I hold an advanced degree in Theology or a related field? Nope. I am just a bookworm with a passion for studying theology who has conducted extensive research on eschatology. And as far as I know, God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called (1 Corinthians 1:27-29). Additionally, this app provides a space where Christians can better understand one of the most confusing and scary books of the Bible, Revelation, and Islam's role in it. In addition to Judaism.
